Position Summary:
The Accounts Clerk will support the Finance Department in day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal procedures and Mauritian accounting standards. The role involves handling invoices, reconciliations, data entry, and administrative financial tasks to maintain smooth financial workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Data Entry
• Record supplier invoices, customer invoices, and journal entries into the accounting system.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date ledgers (AP, AR, General Ledger).
• Process payment vouchers and prepare supporting documents.
Reconciliations
• Assist in monthly bank reconciliations.
• Reconcile supplier statements and follow up on discrepancies.
• Support customer account reconciliations and statements of accounts.
Accounts Payable
• Verify and validate supplier invoices with purchase orders and delivery notes.
• Prepare payment batches and ensure timely payments.
• Monitor credit terms and update the AP schedule.
Accounts Receivable
• Prepare customer invoices and receipts.
• Follow up on outstanding payments when required.
• Update AR ageing reports.
Filing & Administrative Duties
• Maintain organised filing systems for all accounting documentation.
• Assist in preparing financial reports for audits and month-end closing.
• Support the Finance team in miscellaneous administrative tasks.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
• Minimum: Higher School Certificate (HSC).
• Preferable: ACCA Level 1 or Diploma in Accounting/Finance.
Experience:
• 1–2 years of experience in accounting, finance, or administration.
• Familiarity with Mauritian VAT rules and basic accounting principles is an advantage.
Skills:
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks).
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work under minimal supervision.
