Job Description

Our client is looking for an experienced and results-oriented Spare Parts Manager to lead the commercial, operational, and people-management activities of a Spare Parts department.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing the business, achieving revenue and profitability objectives, ensuring operational efficiency and customer satisfaction, optimising inventory performance, and leading the team towards the achievement of departmental goals.

Key Responsibilities
Commercial Development & Performance
Develop and implement commercial strategies to achieve revenue, profitability, and customer development objectives.
Prepare, monitor, and analyse departmental budgets, sales targets, profitability objectives, action plans, and performance dashboards.
Assess market potential and identify new business opportunities to support the growth of the Spare Parts activity.
Develop and maintain a strong and diversified customer portfolio.
Monitor sales performance and take appropriate corrective actions to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
Develop and implement commercial policies, initiatives, promotions, and value-added services.
Identify opportunities to increase customer retention, improve service levels, and grow sales.
Monitor market trends, customer requirements, and competitive activity and translate findings into appropriate commercial actions.
Gather, consolidate, and analyse information from the field and operational teams to support decision-making.
Contribute to commercial initiatives involving related business activities and identify opportunities for cross-functional collaboration.
Prepare regular commercial reports and provide management with relevant performance analysis and recommendations.
Spare Parts Operations & Inventory Management
Take overall responsibility for the efficient and effective operation of the Spare Parts department.
Ensure strong coordination and collaboration with other departments and business functions.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers, business partners, service providers, and other relevant external stakeholders.
Monitor supplier and service-provider performance and take appropriate action where required.
Oversee the purchasing and replenishment process to ensure appropriate availability of parts while maintaining healthy inventory levels.
Monitor inventory levels, stock rotation, slow-moving items, obsolete stock, and overall inventory value.
Analyse historical consumption and market requirements to improve demand forecasting and procurement planning.
Establish appropriate inventory parameters and ensure they are regularly reviewed and optimised.
Coordinate regular stock counts, inventory audits, and reconciliation activities.
Identify inventory risks and implement measures to reduce excess, obsolete, or non-performing stock.
Monitor the efficiency of operational processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Ensure that departmental procedures and operational standards are consistently applied.
Prepare and review operational reports, performance indicators, and management information.
Ensure timely follow-up and resolution of operational issues affecting customers, suppliers, or internal stakeholders.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
Establish and monitor quality objectives and key performance indicators for the department.
Ensure that departmental activities comply with established quality standards, procedures, and internal requirements.
Monitor customer feedback, operational issues, and service-related concerns.
Investigate recurring issues and implement appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
Follow up on improvement plans and measure their effectiveness.
Participate in management reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of departmental processes.
Promote a customer-focused culture and ensure that service quality remains a key priority.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
Ensure effective follow-up of customer requirements and service-related matters.
Monitor customer satisfaction and identify opportunities to improve the overall customer experience.
Maintain professional and productive relationships with key customers and business partners.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure customer requirements are addressed efficiently.
Escalate and resolve significant customer or operational issues in a timely manner.
Ensure that relevant information is communicated effectively across the department and to management.
Team Leadership & People Management
Lead, motivate, and develop the Spare Parts team to achieve commercial and operational objectives.
Define clear roles, responsibilities, objectives, and performance expectations for team members.
Assess employee competencies and identify individual and collective development needs.
Develop and monitor departmental training and development plans.
Participate in recruitment and selection processes to ensure the department is appropriately staffed.
Conduct regular performance discussions and formal individual performance appraisals.
Provide coaching, guidance, and constructive feedback to team members.
Manage employee leave, attendance, performance-related matters, and other people-management issues in accordance with established policies.
Address workplace conflicts promptly and constructively.
Encourage employee engagement, initiative, and contribution to departmental improvement.
Review employee suggestions and identify opportunities to implement practical improvements.
Organise and lead departmental meetings and ensure effective communication of objectives, priorities, and results.

Contribute to compensation and salary reviews in alignment with organisational policies and management guidelines.

Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience.
Previous experience in Spare Parts, inventory management, commercial operations, supply chain, or a related environment will be an advantage.
Proven experience in managing and developing teams.
Good understanding of sales performance, inventory management, procurement, forecasting, and customer service.
Proficiency in standard IT tools and inventory or enterprise management systems.
Strong numerical and reporting skills.
